DIRECT FROM MELBOURNE: If you’re up to date with the currently airing TV series, you’d have gotten wind of Fang Tonglin’s (Rui En) nation-wide televised proposal to Jason Lam (Qi Yuwu). With their nuptials dubbed the “wedding of the century”, the couple will be flying to Melbourne, Australia with their BFF Zhao Fei’er (Jeanette Aw) in tow to film a pre-wedding variety programme helmed by Lin Tao (Li Nanxing). That reel-life production, which takes place over a span of a few episodes, is one of the many reasons why a 20-strong production team (including us) travelled down under in late September.

From witnessing on-set gags by co-stars and chowing down crew lunches in double-time to surviving the erratic weather patterns of the windy city, Toggle brings you never-before-seen – mostly funny – behind-the-scenes videos and photos of The Dream Makers 2.

PS: All snaps are spoiler-free so have a laugh or two, and look out for these upcoming scenes in episode 12 or watch it first on Toggle-It First.

Ah Wu gave his co-stars a good laugh when they discovered him wearing a production jacket holding the boom mic for them. How tough is it to be a soundman? Watch what Ah Wu has to say in this video.

When fans trooped down to the set to visit Rui En

When fans found out Rui En was in town, they fervently checked the artistes’ Instagram accounts to see where the actors would be filming – like this bunch of student fans, including a RBKD member who flew down from Sydney to visit the actress bearing plenty of treats and food for the production team too.

Reflectors are the next-best invention following air conditioning. Why? It makes artistes look divinely good even in the harshest of circumstances, acts as huge shelter from the elements and lastly, doubles up as a conductor for heat when it gets too cold, as demonstrated by Rui En in the picture above.

The overcast skies saw temperatures at the Yarra Valley dip, but filming must go on. Numbed from the cold, Zoe squats down and wraps herself around with her poncho jacket to hide from the chilly winds during her hot air balloon ride and instructs us to do the same when it got too windy and cold.

When Jeanette dipped her toes in freezing waters

Poor Jeanette was in for a mild shock when she discovered she’d be submerged in a pond waist-down for a scene (she was previously told the shallow waters would reach her ankles only) to retrieve her himbo co-star’s mobile phone, but she bravely did it even though she was nursing a cold with the help of plenty towels, heatpacks and warm hugs and drinks.

When the wind got in the way of Romeo Tan’s hair…

Even the most immaculately styled wavy ‘do from the land of K-Pop is vulnerable when faced with the strong winds at Docklands. Guess which co-star had the most laughs out of Romeo’s new windswept mane?

After playing Romeo’s temp hairstylist, Rui En tried to style Romeo’s huge woolen shawl (it was supposed to be draped over his shoulder) next by tying it around his waist a la a sarong. The actress sure looked like she had a ball of time styling her co-star from head to toe!

Looking impeccably stylish in a white Celine gown, Ah Jie opted for a quick hair and make-up touchup at Hosey Lane and plonked herself on the crew’s many heavy suitcases to do it on the spot – even with curious onlookers watching on.

We never knew Ah Wu had a thing for tulips until our trip to Melbourne. After the shoot wrapped, he even tried taping the flowers to the back of a car seat for his mini road trip to several tourist locations with the media in the afternoon.
